Recipes

Here are a few recipes you can use with our salts, seasonings, and sugars!

Steak
(Mango Java Steak Rub)

Ingredients:

Chuck, t-bone, or your favorite cut of beef
One (1) TBSP Salty Wahine Mango Java Steak Rub per pound of meat

Steps:

Use about one (1) tablespoon of Mango Java Rub per pound of meat, and cover the entire steak (both sides) with the Mango Java Rub.
Let sit for one (1) to two (2) hours to let the coffee melt and oils to penetrate the steak.
Grill or broil.
Enjoy!


LAMB CHOPS,POTATO SALAD, SHISH KABOBS
MANGO JAVA LAMB CHOPS

Use about 1 Tablespoon of Mango Java Steak Rub per pound of meat. Cover entire lamb chop (both sides) with rub. Let sit for 1 to 2 hours (or overnight) to let coffee melt and oils to penetrate lamb. Grill or broil.


POTATO SALAD

5 medium potatoes; chopped, 1 teaspoon red hawaiian alaea salt, 1 clove garlic , 4 large eggs; boiled and chopped , 1- 1/2 cups mayonaise, 1 Tablespoon Hawaiian Rub , 5 sweet pickles; chopped, 1 Tabelspoon Aunty Lilikoi Passion Fruit Wasabi Mustard (or your favorite dijon), 1/4 cup sweet onion; chopped .

Put chopped potatoes, clove garlic and red alaea salt in pot. Add water to cover potatoes. Bring to boil and cook aprox 10 min till potatoes are done. Don’t overcook. Cool. Combine all ingrediants, mix well, take care not to smash potatoes. Chill well before serving.


SHISH KABOB

grape tomatoes, bell peppers, sweet onion, mushrooms, zuchini (whatever you can find at farmers market) olive oil, Hawaiian Rub.

soak bamboo skewers in water for about half an hour so they don’t burn when you grill with them. Cut vegitables into 1 to 2 inch pieces. Put 1 of each vegi on each skewer. Baste with olive oil, sprinkle with Hawaiian Rub or Hot Lava or your favoite Salty Wahine spice. Grill or broil.

Variation; you may add cubes of fish or steak to kabobs.


SPICE UP YOUR CHRISTMAS
Pot Roast

Ingredients:

3 lb Chuck roast

4 carrots , chopped

4 stalks celery, chopped

1 large sweet onion, cut into quarters

2 Hawaiian Sweet potatoes

4 red potaoes

1 can beef broth

1 ennvelope dry onion soup mix

1 1/2 teaspoon Salty Wahine Hawaiian Rub

1 tablesppon flour

1 reynolds roasting bag

Instructions:

Put flour in roasting bags as instructed on roasting bag box. Place roast in roasting bag into a baking dish. Add carrots, celery and onions all around roast. Then add potatoes on top of other vegitable. In a sperate bowl, combine dry soup mix and Salty Wahine Hawaiian Rub. Sprinke all over top of potatoes and roast., saving just a little on the side. Pour beef broth over roast, then sprinke the remaining Hawaiian Rub mixture over roast and potatos. Seal bag and poke 3 or 4 slits in bags with a knife. Bake at 350 for 2 hours.

Note: we also love to use turnips if we find them at the market. All root vegitable are wonderful in this dish.


Hot Lava Tomato Bruschetta

Ingredients:

1 large tomato

2 tablespoons chopped sweet onions

2 tablespoons fresh basil

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 clove garlic, minced

Salty Wahine Hot Lava to taste

your favorite crackers (I like townhouse or bagle chips)

Instructions:

Combine all ingredients except crackers. Mix well then spoon onto crackers. Sprinkle a little more hot lava on top for color to taste.

Note: I also like to add cucumbers when I find it at the market, or fresh goat cheese.

Lilikoi Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients:

1 – 12 oz. bag cranberries
½ cup Aunty Lilikoi Passion Fruit Syrup
½ cup Salty Wahine Lilikoi Cane Sugar (or you may use brown sugar)

Instructions:

Clean, sort, and discard damaged berries. Boil cranberries in Aunty Lilikoi Passion Fruit Syrup and sugar until they pop. Remove from heat and let stand until cool. Refrigerate.Serve chilled. Serves 6.


Margarita

Ingredients:

4 oz sweet/sour cocktail mix

4 oz tequila

2 oz triple

2 oz Lilikoi Syrup (recipe below) OR Aunty Lilikoi Passion Fruit Syrup Salty Wahine Li Hing Margarita Salt Lime wedges

Instructions:

Fill blender with ice. Add sweet/sour cocktail mix, tequila, triple sec and Aunty Lilikoi syrup. Add enough water to cover the ice. Blend. Pour Li Hing margarita salt onto a small plate. Rub lime wedges over rim of glass, dip glass onto plate of Li Hing margarita salt. Pour margarita blend into glass, Enjoy!

Lilikoi Syrup 1 cup Salty Wahine "Lilikoi Cane Sugar" or you may use white sugar,1 cup water.In a medium saucepan combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool. Add juice from 3 to 5 lilikoi (passion fruit) to taste. OR, you may use Aunty Lilikoi products "Passion Fruit Syrup" www.auntylilikoi.com if you can’t find fresh passion fruits.
